  • Strut Tower Brace Works? SAY WHATT???

Before I bought my strut tower brace i read up on them just for s***'s and giggles. I read that they dont really do much and if you feel like they do its just because you trick yourself into thinking you feel the difference.

I will probably get bashed but, i dissagree with that... at least for my car.

i bought the bmr strut tower brace (and a bmr panhard rod) from thier website one night because i felt like finally adding something to my 100% stock car.

i must say, i do feel a difference, and i can argue the fact that i am making it up. i completely forgot that i put it in today and was taking corners just now on my way home on the fun windy street i normally go down and it felt so much smoother.

the biggest thing i noticed was that it wasnt as shaky as before. when i took the corners it was a little rough, and shook from left to right if i didnt have it perfect then jump back to normal when i straightened out. but now it is much better and feels extremely smooth.

you can dissagree with me, that is fine, but in my car, im just saying, it definitely feels 10x better.

thanks for reading, hopefully helped someone for once, haha

I think the imports just had blinkers on the fenders, rear fog lights and some minor changes for different laws.

btw, it's shock tower brace, as we don't have struts :)

Im a moron when it comes to suspension. I know nothing about it. Can we get a pic, or some other generic pic of one on an Fbody?

Im interested in this, I plan to move to TN (where I lived some younger years). The roads go up down left right, and I think I could use something like this when I get up there. Because Florida roads are flat and straight, most excitement we get is a pothole...

It's the bar that goes between your two wheel wells under the hood.

The money would be better spent on sub-frame connectors IMO. While it's possible you noticed a difference with the STB, Sub frames would surely be a bigger upgrade.

The reason they don't help is we already have pleanty of support from the cowl and firewall that a STB is just not needed. Anyone who says they felt a difference is either lieing or fooled themselves into beleiving it changed something. Honestly don't wast your money. If you want I can totally blow you mind and tell you that the PHB does more than just center the rear and that even SFC's aren't needed on our cars for handling but rather just hide the symptoms of a poorly designed suspension. If you want the car to handle the best possible for the least amount of money buy the right parts rather than waste it on parts that only mask problems. I suggest you look into a quality shock and spring combo followed buy a 32 or 35mm hollow front bar and a 19mm rear bar (if you get a better understanding on how to dial the car in a 21mm solid or 22mm hollow rear bar can be better though). Trust me I live for setting up suspensions.

Re: Strut Tower Brace Works? SAY WHATT???

i know, i read those articles before, as stated, and i pretty much quoted him with that too. and i pretty much installed it and like i said, i forgot i had it on and i noticed a huge difference. the street i go down is a perfect spot to test it out. i just did another test run this time at much higher speeds. before my top speed going around the corners was around 50-55, with massive amounts of shaking and barely keeping it in the right side of the road. most times crossing the line. it is a very narrow 2 way road with dirt walls and trees on each side.

tonights test run i did 60-63 mph easily around each corner, even messing up sometimes and it barely got out of my control at all. i know im not Mr. Knowitall, and i dont have much experience, but with my car, i can definately notice a huger difference, im not a moron, i can understand the difference between reality and imagination, and im pretty sure this helped. maybe not on other cars, maybe not with cars already having subframe connectors (and i know those are much better, dont have money yet to get that), but on my car, i can feel it.

so i dont know, i am happy with it, and i guess it doesnt really matter if you believe me or not because i can still take those corners faster and smoother than before, and it is infact a whole lot of fun, haha

if you're whipping around corners at 60+ MPH...no suspension mod is going to save you.
