So apparently i have a problem with my hand brake in my 3.4. When i release the had brake the red "brake" light is still on, a mechanic told me that it was because the had brake is about one click away from being fully released. He wanted to charge me $80 for the job. Any how, does anyone know how to adjust the hand brake?

Re: Hand Brake issue
this happened on my 94 Bonneville I had before I got my Firebird. for some reason the E-brake light would stay on even when I hadn't engaged it. it freaked me out for a while cause I thought i was driving with it on, but it went away after 15 minutes of driving or so. it did this for about a month or so, and then just stopped and never did it again. hope you figure out what the problem is...

Re: Hand Brake issue
actually yesterday this happened to me... on my way home. so i tried to switch it off and turn the engine again.. but it wont start... thought it was a dead battery charged it for like 3 hours.. still wont start... figured out it was just the connection of my battery cables...:slap:

Re: Hand Brake issue
Remove your center console and you will see there is a little metal tab on the ebrake handle. When you pull up on the handle it looses connection and dash light comes on. You put it all the way down and makes connection so light on dash goes out. Maybe your tab got bound up somehow.Originally posted by kalaI'll have buttsecks with Richard Simmons!

shift into 1st
on the shift knob, facing the dash you will see a little "staple" going into the knob.
you just need to get that staple out.
i used a small screwdriver.
if its the first time coming out, it might take a little hammering to get it under there to wedge it out.
once the staples out, just pull the knob off.
thats all!
