Panhard Rod Thoughts

I'm about to finally install my lowering springs in a few weeks (H&R 1.75 drop). I have my relocation brackets and, with the most appreciated advice from fellow members, I'm getting the J&M 3 piece poly ball tubular lower control arms so I don't have to worry about stress and binding.

The only other piece I'm still considering is a non-adjustable tubular poly bushing panhard rod. Any thoughts on this? Any binding issues like the straight poly LCAs? This car is just a daily driver. Is it even worth the extra time and money to install an aftermarket PHR?

When I was going to lower my cae I was told I needed to get adjustable Pan hard because if you keep stock one it will shift tires over. I beleive they will shift towards the driver side.

Yeah, I've heard that as well, but I've also read in other post that the shift is just a fraction of an inch and fairly insignificant.

Not sure if I would beleive that. I put lowering springs in rear with no PHB. I then jacked car up and put stock springs back in and the rear was off by an inch and a half. I had to really fight with it to get it to align so to say with having lowering springs it would be a fraction of an inch and with stock springs its over an inch I find hard to beleive. just my 2 cents though.

Anyone who has had geometry can see that lowering 1" or so has almost no lateral impact. It wil shift to the drivers side by a fraction of an inch.

After you lower the car, measure the gap between the fender and tire. Then decide if you want to really spend the money.


BTW, there is nothing wrong with the GM LCA or PHR but for the bushings, which can easily be replaced with ES poly bushings.

But I thought the poly bushings were a bad idea. Are Energy Suspension's different or something?

if it is a DD and not a road race car you do not need the 3pc ball LCA. I drive my camaro daily and at the track with non-adj. UMI LCAs and poly bushings. No issues. If you are autocrossing or road racing then yes you would want something like those.

My understanding, from Robert actually, is the full poly bushing place a lot of stress on the car itself, as when you corner, the poly has no give and all that torsion has to go somewhere. The 3 piece LCA's are only $114 right now with free shipping.

cureently on my LCA's im running one poly bushing and one rubber bushing, it keeps the wheels planted very well. the rubber bushing according to a bunch of my buddies will allow a little more play which is good. i cant remember if its the front or rear bushing that is rubber. but either way it works very well!

as far as PHR im not sure, but ive got a BMR non adjustable i believe. also does a very nice job!

i lowered my camaro a little over an inch, and i put non - adjustable lca(no relocation brackets) and a non adjustable pan hard rod. all lined up perfect for me

the rear end of my camaro sticks to the ground like mad. but you have to include the fact that i have bilsteins hd shocks and struts, eldbrock torque arm bmr pand hard rod and bmr lcas


*edit* and that is on street tires with the nitrous (336 rwhp)

Poly bushings are fine for the PHR. I have never recommended poly bushings on tubular LCA due to binding issues, only if the LCA can flex.
