I will change all my fluids in my 98 Camaro 3.8 with automatic!
I need the info, how many brake fluid must i order to change all incl. the lines? Which is the best for me?
Is this possible and a good upgrade to change to DOT4 or DOT5 or DOT5.1 ?
DOT5 is not a compatible fluid because it is Silicon based, and not glycol like DOT3, DOT4, and DOT5.1. Mixing fluids is also not a very good idea, but since you're planning to do an entire fluid flush, you will be fine. I would suggest DOT4 unless you plan to do a lot of autocrossing or track driving (Nurburgring?), in which case I would suggest DOT5.1 to prevent boiling the fluid.
I'm not sure how much fluid you will need, but I think a litre should be able to do it. It would not be a terrible idea to buy more than you think you will need though, just in case.

Your car is spec'ed for DOT3. There is nothing to be gained using DOT4. If you do the research, instead listening to street hype, this is what you need:
"If your car was designed for a particular type of fluid (especially prior to the development of DOT 4 fluids), you should make every attempt to stick with that fluid! For example, if your car was delivered with DOT 3 fluid, the internal components of the system (seals, brake hoses, and fittings for example) were specifically designed and tested for compatibility with DOT 3. Because DOT 4 fluids contain a different chemical composition, the system may not necessarily react in a positive fashion to the borate esters floating around in the mix."

didnt know that about brake fluid i figured it was like the dexron 3 and dexron 6 kinda deal, you can go up in numbers but not down. i actually use the delco surpreme because it is cheap for me, good to know it is performance rated.

Haven’t done anything on the Camaro, but put LEDs on my truck headlights . And my oil pressure sensor went out on the truck so going to fix that this...
