i was at my speed shop and got these prices on Rotors
    Brembo front/rear $515
    Powerslot front/rear $490
    Ebc front/rear $414

this is just for the rotors i will buy pads later when the car actually goes on the road

Just get OEM blanks if you're sticking with the same size. drilled/slotted rotors look cool, but do nothing for performance. They are more prone to cracking, and have less surface area, so logically they won't perform as well in an emergency stop. OEM blanks can be had for about $20 a pop and work just as well.

If you want the appearance, there are plenty of rotors that you can get for much less, in fact I've seen a set of powerslots for less than half of that IIRC.

I'm not convinced OEMs perform well to begin with...the brake pedal pulses when I slow down, and I'm told they may be warped. I would upgrade from OEM for better heat resistance, but I wouldn't necessarily pay those numbers though.

thanks guys i was going to get the brembo blanks but apparently they dont do em any more which i find hard to believe i might just keep looking
my rotors are warped pretty bad so its the first thing on the spring list
plus those prices are 20-30% less than the list price up here in canada and the broker and other fees are to high to get them shipped up

Are these brakes for your normal street car?

imo I wouldn't spend that much money on brakes that are used for a street car. Plenty of the members on here have bought advance rotors or ebay rotors for around 100 dollars and tend to be great! I haven't heard any bad remarks. Just my 2 cents. You could use the extra 400 for something else performance wise.

I've never seen OEM replacement rotors for 98 up cars that cheap....And I looked.

that's called "your ABS doing it's job;" the pulses you feel are is the ABS system trying to keep your wheels from locking up, thus putting your car into a slide, which increases the stopping distance. If the rotors were warped, you'd feel vibration thru the steering wheel, not the brake pedal.

Smoke Panther you are right but he probably just worded it wrong.

Yeah I wouldn't go with the cheapest possible.. I did that before and they were warped before a year was up. H&H Wheel got me a set of front rotors from mexico for like 80 bucks that have been awesome. The ones before were like 60 for a set from japan. I'd tell you a brand name but I have no idea.. we just knew if they were from japan or mexico and how much they cost.

When I replaced all my rotors, I talked to a few knowledgeable mechanic friends and they said the cheap OEM blanks work just as good as anything else. What matters is the pads. My rotors ran about $21 per rotor for the back and $23 for the front with no special discounts or bargain hunting.

I went with R1 concepts off ebay, there drilled and slotted. Had them over 18 months and as of last Friday when I had wheels off and inspected them, I have no cracks. They were fairly cheap and I spent more money on the pads. Get some Hawk pads and you'll feel a stopping diffrence

Yeah I know a lot of mechanics that claim to be "knowledgeable" but from personal experience, you get what you pay for. I've used the same pads unchanged for the rotors I used and alls I can say is the ones I paid more for are better. You'll get that with 75+% of the things that you buy in life.
