Torque Arm Bushings??

Hi,
I am getting a clunking sound from underneath sometimes when I brake, a have looked at all the axle bushes at the rear end and nothing is loose or chewed up, a friend says it could be the torque arm bushings

I found this part on the Summit site

link didn't work but Summit part is ENS-3-1111G
but if I was to replace the bush (s) how many are there and is it a tough job. I have changed the rear shocks and that was OK etc.

Any comments appreciated

If you replace the bushing BE CAREFUL!! The torque arm will want to slam against the bottom of the car with the weight of the axle twisting it. Years ago, I had to get a guy's hand out when it clipped him, didn't do too good with his hand either. I'd maybe put a piece of wood at the upper end of the torque arm (between the floorboard and arm) before loosening the bushing housing. Just back the screw out slowly.

Just get the car up on four stands and make sure you're concious that the torque arm will take on the weight of the axle once the mount is unbolted.

I appreciate the warnings, without crawling underneath is there only one bush, the picture and write up in the Chilton manual is pretty basic to say the least.

it's kinda a pita to change, grease the crap out of it with some good synthetic bearing grease, the heavier the better!

I changed mine with just the front of the car on ramps.

It wasn't that tough to move the torque arm as I remember it, I just grabbed the thing and put it in the new bushing, however I didn't have my hand on it when I took the old one off.

Just take your time have plenty of grease, and hand cleaner. Once you grease that sucker up you will want to clean your hands, putting it back together and holding on to the torque arm with greasy hands is not fun :)
