Brake Pads too thick???

I just tried putting some Pro Stop brake pads on the front left and the caliper wouldn't easily get up to the top bolt when the new ones were in. I finally used some leverage and got it there but then the rotor wouldn't turn at all. Are the pads too thick and has anyone had a problem like this before? I haven't until now...

You need to get a "C" clamp and slowly compress the caliper in. It will then self adjust once you put pressure on brakes

Or you could buy a brake caliper compressor from advance for like $10. either way does the same thing, the same way.

I compressed the two brake pistons all the way. I don't see how the caliper can be compressed when it is one solid piece... The problem is that the outer brake pad is too thick and that caused the caliper to not be able to slide over far enough in towards the car so that the upper bolt holes would line up. I am going to get some OEM pads tomorrow to see if they work.

i hated hawk.

all i will use on all my cars is duralast. and yes that is what i use on my camaro for drag racing too. they are perfect pads

You actually have to compress the piston into the caliper.

By far, the best pads I've used is factory AC Delco pads. I'm putting new front pads on my Trans Am to next week replace the ORIGINAL factory AC Delco pads. The car has 77k miles and God knows how many passes down the track. Never glazed or sqealed once. Find an aftermarket pad that can do that.

Compress the pistons back into the calipers. I had this EXACT same problem after I put mine back on. Did this, and everything was fine. That's your problem.
