  • Ceramic pad/rotor selection...

My oem rotors for my 97 firebird are toast, and I want to put another pair of ceramic pads on with the new rotors....

What should I go with as far as rotors go??? I really like the look of the slotted ones...but then I was told I should put ceramic rotors on it if I've got ceramic pads...and now that I'm reading the other threads that have been posted here about the slotted rotors it might sound like they'd chew up/break ceramic pads. I dunno what to do help!!!

Also can someone tell me the size of rotors I'd need? My car didn't come with a manual, the Haynes doesn't specify, and I've found two different sizes while rotor shopping...

SIGHS rotors are supposed to be easy. Sheesh.

do NOT and i repeat DO NOT buy cheap brakes

it sucks having your wheels look all crappy from the brake dust, and having rotors warped after a few hundred miles

i have ether ceramic or metalic on my car now (the cheapest) and there is very little brake dust, so they should be fine

i just put a set of rotors on two weeks ago, and they are already warped, thats pretty bad, because they were on my fathers car before mine and had no warpage in them, i guess i just have bad luck, i dont think i drive that bad

I've been looking at rotors from R1 conepts e-series on ebay. You can get all 4 corners for around $200 after shipping.

I have not changed the brakes on the Bird yet, but on the wife's van, the ceramics work great, and I just got regular rotors from NAPA. Ceramic does do a wonderful job of eliminating brake dust. I can't tell if they stop any better, but they are a lot cleaner. Dodge's OEM brakes suck.

your best bet is to go with ac delco rotors

buddy of mine works at a chevy dealer, and he said they are the best (cheapest) rotors you can buy
