all depends on what your going for performance wise....street, drag, auto-x.... but a great all round shock and strut is bilsteins. i put them on my camaro witht he same spring set up. they work great together.

If you go with used bilsteins, that's a good option, however you'll ideally need revalved bilsteins to run on a lowered car, which cost a good amount more. The suspension guys are saying to stray away from bilsteins new lines, as they went downhill recently. Your only real options are revalved shocks, or adjustables. KYB AGX are a good adjustable shock that run around the same cost as yesterdays bilsteins, but they can be tuned to your specific needs. If you want the best, go with Koni adjustables, but those are well into the 800 range for the set.

KYB Adjustables are the best that i've seen for the price.

x2... Gr8 recommended these KYB's to me and they are great! After all my suspension work, the rear was a little tight. A couple tweaks of the dial and it's now perfect. Highly recommended.

i got Intrax lowering springs with KYB's I like the way my camaro sits 2inch drop in frotn and 1.8 inch in rear but I need to get the Panrod bar because when you lower your car it sets off your Rear end. Just a heads up

I dropped 2 inches without an adjustable panhard and I noticed no difference. I mean, I know mathematically it moved a tiny bit (<1/24"), but logically, it's not gonna move anymore than factory will went you hit a bump.

KYB's rock. Also, and I don't know about other shocks, the KYB are designed to work with lowered vehicles. I know you can get the Bilsteins revalved.

Re: i need some info on shocks

Can someone please explain to me what re-valving shocks has to do with lowering a car? Re-valving changes the damping characteristics of the shocks, but what does it have to do with lowering? You might have to get the shocks shortened, but I highly doubt that will be necessary with only a 1"-2" drop.

As far as brands, I have a set of AGXs on my '02 Camaro, and I think they're an excellent shock for a street car. I haven't had them on the track yet, so I don't know how well they'll do there. A lot of guys who race and autocross don't care much for the KYBs, but they have a different set of criteria for judging shocks. And if you're considering Konis, remember that there are both single-adjustable and double-adjustable versions for the Camaro. The single-adjustable (Sport) Konis are great shocks (I have them on my ITA race car), but they are only adjustable for rebound, so you'll be stuck with the fairly stiff compression rate they build into them.

Oh, I thought the valves were relocated for shorter travel. I was told that at some point and was just spouting it out in almost parrot-like fashion. Honestly, I don't know jack about shocks.

Strano revalves bilsteins to match the characteristics of the SLP firehawk, so that they are identical to SLP's bilstein's, which adjusts the dampening so that it responds ideally to the car's lower center of gravity.

I don't think that's why you need them, but that's one of the advantages of having them. normal shocks seem like they'd be a bit too hard to run with shorter spring travel....
