In my opinion the best brake pads are factory AC delco pads. They might cost more, but they will last the longest and won't glaze over and squeal. I just replaced the original front pads on my Trans Am at 77k miles and countless trips down the track. The never overheated or glazed.

If you're talking about stopping ability, then yes - yellowstuff > redstuff > greenstuff > utilimax
Also, hawk hp+ > hps ~ ceramic
The redstuff is EBC's ceramic pad - if you never plan to see a track I would go with either one of the ceramic pads, they make less dust and are pleny adequate for street driving. In fact if it were me and I wanted just a street pad I would go to Autozone and get a set of their premium ceramic pads. They're a lot less expensive and will still last you a long time.
