i was takin a turn and this dude didnt think my v6 was the shizz, so i decided to show off a bit, first time went great, sideways till it hit second back around real clean like.
second time i did it again, the rearend started hopping so i let out of it, but it made one loud clonk sound right at my drivers side door. ima get my tires ballanced like right away to olve the hop, anywho, i crawled up under the drivers side thinking maybe a bad bushing or something, and didnt see anything, im just curious cause it didnt happen on the pass side. anyone ever had this problem before.

    Re: wheel hop sound

well there's nothing near your door that would cause a "clunk sound" unless it was coming from the transmission, which may be a bad mount. Does it make this sound under acceleration from a stand still? If it only happens when cornering real hard, im guessing its worn shocks.

and i dont think balancing your tires has anything to do with the problem. The symptoms of unbalanced tires are shaking and wobbling when driving in a straight line most often.

x2 on checking the transmission mount.

Also check the bushings for your LCAs. Replacing the stock soft rubber ones with Moog hard rubber bushings helps to eliminate wheel hop.

New shocks/springs will help to take care of wheel hop, if you're still running on the stock setup.

What it seems to me as though your shocks needs changing and check your bump stops your Differential hit either the bump stops or the body that may have been the sound you heard

          Re: wheel hop sound

it only does it from a dead stop, and only when the wheels hop. ^that sounds maybe like the answer, its a clunk that sounds like its comming from the rear area of my drivers door.

          LCA? lower control arms? front?

and yeah, everything is still stock. Can someone direct me to a complete rundown of the rear suspension? like an exploded view or something? im just not sure of all the names of things, such as the panhard rod, would that take place of what i call the ladder bar?

                Re: wheel hop sound

the torque arm is a long piece of metal that connects the rear end to the rear tail of the transmission.

It mounts to the drivers side of the transmission.

Also check your transmission mount. It is made of semi hard rubber and is located between the bottom of the transmission and the crossmember.

The crossmember goes across your car (drivers-pass) and is black piece of metal about 2 feet long. it bolts to the body of the car and holds the transmission up.

another question, does your shifter bounce/move when you hear the clunking?

                  Re: wheel hop sound

so the torque arm is what i call the ladder bar. so whats a panhard rod?

i know the bushing where the torque arm connects to the tranny mount is cracked, but i think the tranny mount itself is good? can i just replace the torque arm bushing, or would i have to replace the whole tanny mount assy?

you would only have to replace what is broken
