Doesn't look like anyone ever changed those before you got em.
I was just kiddin about the skirt thing.. for those to crack and break up like that they must have been near welded on.
I've heard someone say something about bi-metal corrosion that creates situations like that but I don't know if there are 2 different metals even there. I typically see it when aluminum side paneling is mounted to steel with nothing in between.
for future reference....a sledge hammer will work wonders.... not a 3lb mini hammer.. use atleast a 20lber min.....if you cant get a good swing on it... use a solid 4x4 piece of wood as a spacer... having a (brave) person hold it(have them wear leather gloves).... and wack the hell out of it...
Zep 45 is the best. Ive used it to loosen up frozen brkae drums on semis, and it worked on my '73 ford amverick that had been sitting since '91 in a barn. Sprayed it on, let it sit about 10 minutes, came back and just cracked loose like butter.
