  • ABS Light on

I need some help here, just two weeks after I installed new front rotors, the abs light went on. I had it scanned today and apparently both abs sensors threw some codes. The codes are the following:
    21 - LF wheel speed is 0MPH
    22 - RF wheel speed is 0MPH
25 - Excessive LF wheel acceleration
32 - LF wheel speed sensor circuit open or short to ground

can someone tell me the possible causes for these codes to be thrown by the module? the person who scanned it told me it was because of the sensors, that those were bad, but it doesn't sounds like a logical explanation, because two independent sensors won't fail at the same time, or that's what normally happens. but about ABS modules, I know nothing.

any help will be appreciated...thank you people.

From what I heard, yes, if one of your 3rd brake lights is out, your ABS light will go on.....

Hi first I think when you get the codes note them and have them cancelled, road test the vehicle and then have the scan done again orwhen the person scan them then clear them, have them rescan again,to see if they are clear or if they reoccur but from what I see that you qouted your LF sensor seem faulty, because it saying 0mph then saying excessive wheel acceleration and finally saying check circuit for open or ground, then the RF maybe sharing a wire from the LF which may also cause the RF to throw a code.

                1. You should test the resistance of the sensors.
                2. I don't know how the sensors are mounted on our cars but on the equipment I work on they're in a "sleeve" and the sensors are pushed up against an exciter ring that's a part of the hubs. Perhaps when you installed your rotors something you did knocked em out of position. But like I said, I don't know how they're mounted on our cars specifically.

The senors on the front are built into the wheel hubs and can not be replaced without replacing the hubs themselvs. If i had to guess i would assume that the wires were damaged at one point and theat is why you are getting the codes. Those sensors are nothing more than a magneto switch.

                  21 - LF wheel speed is 0MPH
                  22 - RF wheel speed is 0MPH
25 - Excessive LF wheel acceleration
32 - LF wheel speed sensor circuit open or short to ground
I would agree with clearing them and driving the car to see if they come back. Also if you are getting those codes your abs module is not faulty, trust me i had mine go bad and that was a pain.

As far as i know that was only on cars with early forms of abs.
though i can tell you that if your brake lights are burned out or you have led bulbs your cruise control wont work.

                    Re: ABS Light on

well, apparently...I got all my brake lights working good, but I'll check them again, just in case. mmmm...also I had those codes cleared, and less than 2 minutes after those codes were cleared, the light turned on again. but practically that's the only things I've done with it so far. like...three weeks before that light came on, I changed my front pads, and had my rotors resurfaced, but those were in bad condition, and that light didn't came on after that; so one week later after changing the pads, I had new rotors installed, and just 2 weeks after replacing the rotors, the ABS light came on, but in an intermittent way, one day it was on and another it wasn't. But like a week ago, that light started to come on right after the car starts to move.
