Ive been reading a lot about them and my question is what do they do for the average Joe. Yes they get rid of squeks but my car is pretty quiet and I'm not a autocross racer. Ive heard they are very good specifically ones from umi the 3 point one but do they help in handling such as stiffness around corners and body roll or are they just for track launches. Just looking for something for my xmas list lol.
Thanks Dan-
You can always get the bolt in type and then have them welded later, but they cost more. I know just having the BMR tubular ones , I noticed them right away when I was going around a 180 degree road turn doing 30+. Really tightened up the car, worked out well with all my other mods.
08' L76 6.0L 4X4 Chevy EXT.Cab LTZ Vortec MAX with Snug top cover, Dynomax exhaust,Hptuners& K&N intake

Only installation issue with bolt on's is that you'll need to measure and drill some holes in your subframes. It may not be as easy as you may think. If you decide to go with bolt on's, use a very sharp drill bit and keep putting some drops of motor oil on the end of the bit to keep it cool and lube the contact.
Ok thanks guys. They are definetley on the xmas list. A fewof my buddies were skeptical on what they would actually do but I have yet to hear any bad things. I'm thinking of going with bolt ins for now becasue I may buy a different car but if not ill weld them in. If you have anymore success stories chime in. thanks Dan-
Not only was it cool for all of that suspension stuff but I can use them for jack points. You can definitely tell how rigid the car is when you jack it up too.
I'm looking to get the 3 point ones i figure if I'm gunna do it might as well go all out. Are there any favorite vendors that sell them? They'll definetley be from umi for cost and quality. And yes I do like the jack points its such a pain in the *** to jack up a unibody car especially when you can watch the body flex.
haha yeah no kidding, they don't bend in from the jack either.
god dont even get me started, my friend jacked up my car and bent one almost completely in. Spent the day getting it straight and then primred with some ainti rust:( now i only jack from the diff......which gives at least 6 less inches of clearance when getting under there.
knowing there a good jack point, juts bumped them up on my priority list.
Ya the guy before me jacked up the car by the front "jackpoints" and bent the framerails in on the front of the car. And to top it off the side fenders where the fender meets the door around the little air vents is bend out a bit from the body flexing and jacking up the car.
Speaking of the jack points;
When I was out shopping for a used V8 f-body a few years ago, I kept coming across bent front fenders mostly on trans am's, but a few camaro's too.
The lower part of the front fenders looked bent out a bit, and the fenders didn't meet up with the doors perfectly.
As I looked more into it, I finally noticed that under the fender, I saw a huge indentation where a jack had been placed (mentioned by Redbird555 above). Seems that when people read their manuals and did what it said, it caused the body to slightly bend because of the car's weight.
My point is that the "factory stated" jack points will support the car, but will do other damage instead. Always use the subframe to jack up any car!
