Sorry bro, but for $400, you aren't going to get tires with all of those qualities you've listed.

If you have a membership to Sam's Club, or something similar, go there and price their tires. I got my wife a set of four (4) 16" BF Goodrich Tires on her old car for $379 installed. They were all season's, but the snow traction was minimal at best. But, they were alot better than the tires that were previously on the car.

What about getting a set of snow tires for the back and some sort of skinny tires for the front? I don't think any all-season tires will give decent traction with our cars because the rear end is so light. If I had to drive my car all winter, this is what I would do. I would probably also get some cheap rims to put the tires on.

The first one's you've listed have a treadwear rating of 760. Meaning, the tires will last a longer time, but you sacrifice traction.

The second tires have a treadwear rating of 620. They won't last as long as the 760's, but the rubber compound is a bit softer and you'll get slightly better traction with them. Between the two choices, I'd buy these.

Normally, depending on tire brand, the higher the treadwear number, the longer the tread will last.
You must also take into consideration of the Traction Rating, and Temp Rating too.

yea 400 is not going to get you 4 tires mounted on your car. Tire prices have gone way up the last 2-3 months.

Remember that when you see ratings on tires that each manufacturer rates their own tires and has their own rating system. So one man. will say it is a 60k tire but their qualifications could be different than company B's and that same tire might be a 50k or a 70k tire for company B if tested

You should really try to find a tire dealer near you first before ordering online. Tire shops will tend to overcharge you for mounting / balancing tires that they didn't sell, and they usually don't offer any type of road hazard or mileage warranty with them either.

Here's something near you (zip code 60101):

The tire prices are very reasonable, and they give you a pretty good warranty too.

                          Just something to think about.

Let me warn you that buying from sams club, walmart, discount, and other cheap places can be a pain in the butt later on if you are looking for a replacement tire later on. They buy offbrand tires that are labelled as Goodyear, Michelin, Cooper, etc and they are not an actual line item from those manufacturers. Those stores buy a truckload at a DEEP discount as a one time buy.

So do your research on them first or you will have to mismatch tires later on unless you buy a set every time

^Never knew this. I'll keep it in mind when I'm shopping for tires next time.

                              Thanks!
