IN my 01 bird I have a really annoying creaking sound whenever I turn the wheel. Its ont he drivers side. I just did all the ball joints and tie rod ends so I knocked those out right away I also made sure that they are all greased up:). It dosent clunk or make any noises going over bumps unless the wheel is moved then it makes the same noise but nothing if the wheel stays straight and the car goes over a pot hole or something. Im thinking its the rack and pinion but I'm not real sure and the 300 dollar price tag is a little scary. Can you remove the boots off the side of the rack and pinion? Is there a u joint there or something that moves up and down/side to side that can be greased or lubed or is it all a sealed unit. Anyone have info/ Thanks Dan-
