Re: Help with traction
throw in some lca brackets with the control arms to plant those tires down too. then check if you have a posi or not (y87 package is a giveaway, or the "one tire fire" burnout)...mine's running open posi with 3.23's (until i get a decent posi and gears) and i can't hook for sh*t.pacesetters|full 3" borla exhaust|3" stainless e-cutout|slp cai & ram intake|c/f whisper lid|tbs|eibach|kyb|stb|sfc's|adj.lca's & phb|slp fan|b&m t5|180*|z06 17x9.5|8000k hids|hptuners|d/s rotors

not trying to be rude but there is no such thing as an open posi there is an open rear which you have...Last edited by vr4gasm; 01-20-2009, 01:09 PM.2001 Camaro 3.8 A4

6 one, half a dozen the other...
and actually yes i've heard of my "open rear" referred to as an open posi, which is just a lack thereof...either way, it doesn't help the OP worrying about it.pacesetters|full 3" borla exhaust|3" stainless e-cutout|slp cai & ram intake|c/f whisper lid|tbs|eibach|kyb|stb|sfc's|adj.lca's & phb|slp fan|b&m t5|180*|z06 17x9.5|8000k hids|hptuners|d/s rotors

Quote from above Wikipedia link.
In the 1950s and 1960s many manufacturers began to apply brand names to their LSD units. While Packard pioneered the LSD under the brand name "Twin Traction" in 1956, the most famous of these was Chevrolet's "Positraction". Since then, Positraction (often shortened to "positrac" or merely "posi") has become a genericized trademark for LSDs.
Other factory names for LSDs include:
* Alfa Romeo: Q2
* American Motors: Twin-Grip
* Buick: Positive Traction
* Chevrolet/GMC trucks (after 1973): Gov-Lock
* Ferrari: E-Diff
* Fiat: Viscodrive
* Ford: Equa-Lock and Traction-Lok
* International: Trak-Lok or Powr-Lok
* Jeep: Trac-Lok (clutch-type mechanical) and Tru-Lok (gear-type mechanical)
* Mopar: Sure Grip
* Oldsmobile: Anti-Spin
* Pontiac: Safe-T-Track
* TVR: Hydratraksigpic

i think you are thinking of a locker rear end, where both wheels get the same power all of the time.. ONLY except if you are going around bends it will unlock
