    Re: tires

    "fit" is an arbitrary term.

255/50R16 is kind of pushing it. 245/50R16 fits better.

              3800v6,

I would say a 255 is probably the largest, but each tire fits a range of rims. Log onto the www.tirerack.com and pick the tire you want. Then click on the specs. A chart will come up with the specs on all the different size tires under that specific tire. The chart also contains a suggested rim size. For example a BFG G force Sport tire in 255/50/16 recommends a rim size between 7-9 inches.

                  Re: tires

Tirerack is a good place to start. I work at Belle Tire (major tire vendor in michigan and ohio) so if there's one thing I know, It's tires.

For a v6 camaro you're not going to need anything above 245 on stock rims. 255 will create alot of drag and will definitely decrease your fuel economy.

                  Here are your sizes
                  245/50R16
                  235/55R16
                  225/60R16

My brother has 225/60R16's on his Z/28 and they grip just fine. I have 235/55R16's on my 3.4 and they cant find traction anywhere (probably because they're almost bare.) My point being that it's not so much about how wide your tire is but how grippy the tread compound is.

I noticed that you live in AZ. If so go with Ultra High Performance Summer Tires. Tirerack has alot of good recomendations and reviews. If you're looking to save some bucks go with Kelly Fierce UHP's. They're made by goodyear and their really really nice for a good price. Just remember with any UHP tire they wont last more than 30,000 miles. A good compromise might be High Performance All Season tires. Once you scout out the tires you're considering post back here. Chances are I know a bit about them.
