  • Bottoming out? Need help.

I just put new tires and rims on the car.

got 19 inch professionally painted black corvette rims on the back.
    285/35/19 i think

and 245/45/18 on the front. same paint scheme.

today i was driving around, and the back wheels kept hitting the top of the fenderwell when hitting decent size spots on the road.

I replaced the shocks on the back just recently.

and the car is leaning hard to the left sitting flat.
Example. i can get two fingers between the tire and the top of the wheel well on one side and can get four fingers between the tire and top of the wheel well on the other side.

what could help me stop the tires hitting the wheel well. and what could have my car lower on the left side.

either your tires are to tall, wide, or you have the wrong offset. its not a suspension issue. i have 17 inch rims, with 275/40/17, which isnt that big, but the offset of the rim is wrong for my car...

      picture maybe?

                well, they look good.
did it lean before the swap?

so, check where it is bottoming out, axle, or is it hitting the tire?

                  Re: Bottoming out? Need help.

It bottomed out before the tire swap, and the frame was hitting the ground. but now since bigger tires. the frame doesnt.

But the back tires hit the wheel well when i hit decent size bumps. i got to install the two spacers that came with it for each side and see if that fixes it. i forgot to put them on.

and no the car has leaned since before i got it. i think it may be struts or springs in the back.

                        Re: Bottoming out? Need help.

If it's leaning that bad and the frame is hitting the ground, you might have a broken coil or something on your springs. Might try replacing or even taking them out and comparing them. Supposedly it's easy as cake to get the springs out in the back.

if you have the wheel out, it's pretty obvious in the back where the bump stops are. dead center over the axle right when the body of the car comes down toward the axle. Held on by two bolts (10mm?)

Autozone sells them, I think they even sell poly ones, but the pictures they have online don't have any mounting hardware but it may just be the pic.

also if your coils arent bad think about getting the PANHARd bar adjustable you need it so your car can be level thas why mine leans to one one right after i lowered it and put on 18's and i had wheel rub just like you sounds like we got the same problem and i had brand new shocks and springs
