Shock install question

Got my new shocks in the mail and I plan to install the rears myself and have a shop do the fronts. Is there anything wrong with having mismatching shocks for a while, new rears and worn out stock fronts?

I think the new rears will put more stress on the front but if your going to replace them then I wouldn't worry about it. The front is going to be a hard ride. I have mismatching shocks QA-1's up front and Blistein in the rear, they work vey well together.

what shocks are you putting in? it shouldnt matter if you are going to be replacing them soon...be careful though, the car will drive with probably more oversteer since the backs will be stiffer then the fronts.

do me a favor...weight the stock shocks for me...I forgot to do that when I had mine done...and let me know what they weigh...then weigh the new shocks for me, and let me know what they are and how much they weigh....if you could please...

LetZride , I can weigh my old KYB adj. shocks with eibach springs with the complete assmebly all together if you want?

I weighed them and they were 17lbs even for one side.

Bam...thats what I wanted...I have the KyB's ...so it weighs 17lbs eh....not bad...you wouldn't happen to know what the stock weight is?

There is nothing really wrong with haveing different shocks, but it will affect your handling until you make them up. go easy on your whip till then

Thats with the whole assembly, shock mount all bolted together, I would think their would be someone who has weighed the stock shocks, maybe in a weight reduction site somewhere, I know the QA-1's assembled were lighter at around 10-11lbs or so I think, with the 300lb springs.

No. When I did mine in autoshop I did my rears first, then my fronts later. No problem :)

I doubt you care at this point but I'm about to replace my front shocks/springs and I'd be glad to weigh them as a unit when I pull them out if you'd still like to know.
