  • Shock install finally

I've had some KYB AGX for awhile now just sitting in my closet and my girlfriend's ball joint and tie rod end is apparently bad which needs to be fixed immediately. And after learning a bit about suspension for my girlfriend's car I got that itch to work on mine again. So it's about time I put these shocks in anyways.
I was just wondering if anyone of experience could give me a heads up about any problems I might run into during the install. And what are some good settings to put these at anyways?

x2 springs w/ shocks...i did my eibach kit at the same time to keep from having to go back in. the only thing that was really a pita was getting to the rear shock top bolts underneath all your carpeting and nonsense around the back speakers.

if you do go springs, match up an adj panhard and lca brackets to keep that rear end in line. other than that, you should be just fine...good luck bro

I'm stickin with the springs I have in it. For now anyways. Ground clearance is an issue with these under K member turbo pipes. I changed a strut on my gf's mercury topaz so this should be considerably easier.. That thing was such a pain.

I've got some blue point spring compressors, a snap-on air ratchet and my 1/2" IR impact so I should be good there.

I'm gonna look around on the forums a bit more before I do this but wasn't there something in the front that always breaks?

If your front swaybar endlinks are old, they will probably snap. Thats what I've been hearing, and I'm waiting to put my AGX's and eibach kit in once it warms up.

Problems on install arre rusted top nuts, might need new strut mounts or isolators. Might have to cut the old shocks up to get the old bolts off jut minor things.LOL Spring compreors aren't really that hard to use just watch yourself and don't make stupid mistakes.LOL
Their should be some guides around for installling springs.4-6 is a good setting to use on the KYB's. I had mine on 6 for the longest with lowering springs, then when I started my weight reduction on the front went down to 4. Just depends on weight and how firm you want it, if stock I would set on 6, you fine with that. Good luck

Yeah I only got around to doing the rears, which were really easy. I'm a little concerned with how tight the top bolts are though. They seemed to have compressed the bushings slightly then the top half of the shock just spun. I tried to get my girlfriend to hold onto it but apparently that was as far as I was getting.
I have them set at 4 which was right in the middle since I didn't really have a good idea where I should go with it.. but I'll up em to 6 and see how that goes.

I'm not really looking forward to compressing the springs since it was so much fun changing that strut on my gf's car. But honestly, there's like 10x more space in our wheel wells than a topaz.
I'm just happy to be working on my car again and installing goodies. Those red UMI control arms aren't alone anymore.
