its actually been happening for a while. my brakes have gotten pretty jerky. even with constant pressure on the brake peddle, the brakes rub the rotors unevenly depending on how fast the wheels are spinning. my brother's camaro actually has the same exact thing going on. is this a common occurrance with camaros? also, how do i fix this?

    Would you call it "pulsating"?

warped rotors or pads? mines doing the same, figured replacing the rotors would fix the job... but Im always up for opinions.

Rotors definitely, I've gone through a few. I'm about due for a new set because I've been buying cheap ones that tend to warp a bit sooner. The front ones though are the ones that go bad faster, with the bigger pads and all, so you could get away with just changing the fronts if you're strapped for cash.

never had a problem with warping rotors. I've used cheap carquest rotors for about 2 years now and they are still perfectly fine.

i have the R1 concepts too. so far i like them. I know that the got a little warped from summer city driving and hard brakeing a couple times. They are still holding up better than the regular discs.

                        Re: jerky brakes

My Camaro's brakes never warped, but my Impala's warped. I bought my Impala off my father, and the rotors were warped when I got it from him. I had them turned at NAPA and they have been good since. My father's newer Impala did the same, but after turning them once and having the warp return, I just replaced them with some NAPA gold rotors and they didn't warp.

Quite a bit of it comes down to driving style (which can be hard to change or even recognize if you don't ride with other drivers much), but from what I've heard:
                        - If you ride your brakes (like my parents do to keep from going "too fast" down hills) then the brakes heat up excessively which can cause warping.
                        - If you ride them hard (go fast, stop fast) they are also more likely to warp.
                        - If you ride them hard then stay stopped for a while they are even more likely to warp (the pad clamped down acts as an insulator keeping that part hot while the other side of the rotor cools quickly).
                        - last is if you drive though puddle of water that manages to get the rotor wet. (quenches the metal).
                        - I think if you don't stop you'll be okay (no just kidding, "normal" stopping is the best).

IMHO it comes down to driving style because of my experience with the Impala.

I have R1 Concepts all around with ceramic pads, stops very well, still going good now for over 4 years or more, I have some Powerslot slotted rotors when they finally go out with new ceramic pads. I just need to put my stainless brake lines on one of these days..

i had this explained to me this week. its cause of the "composite" rotors meaning that there are multiple metals "composing" the rotors. when you run through a puddle the different metals cool and contract at different rates causing the warpage. i thought that was interesting.
