Is it beneficial at all to get a panhard rod on a non lowered car? The non adjustable bars look fairly cheap in price, and I hear about lowered cars needing them...but what about us guys at stock height?

Re: panhard on non lowered car
I like the adjustable parts better, I bought the the chromoly BMR LCA's and Panhardrod all adjustable back when my car was lowered. but even at stock height if you want to run a bigger rear tire having it adjustable is nice, esp. for 17 X 11" rims.LOL08' L76 6.0L 4X4 Chevy EXT.Cab LTZ Vortec MAX with Snug top cover, Dynomax exhaust,Hptuners& K&N intake

Re: panhard on non lowered car
well personally I will probably not run bigger then a 16" tire on the car....probably wont go much wider then a 255 tire either...actually my new tires will probably 16" 255 tires if I can manage to squeeze them onto the rims...
Is an aftermarket panhard bar stiffer or lighter?

Re: panhard on non lowered car
If you have 16 X 8 rims 255/50/16's will fit with no problems, I ran those on my stock salad shooters for years. They look bad@ss too. Chromly is like 3-5 lBS lighter I think , thats why I got my whole suspension with chromly and it is stiffer than the stock panhardrod, and looks better. I removed the upper peice that runs just above the panhardrod and didn't notice any difference except another 5-10lbs lighter. Also gave me more room for the 3" exhaust to go through. But I might be putting my exhaust before the axle for somemore weight savings. If all goes well my car should be in the 2800LB area with the turbo and me not in it.08' L76 6.0L 4X4 Chevy EXT.Cab LTZ Vortec MAX with Snug top cover, Dynomax exhaust,Hptuners& K&N intake

Re: panhard on non lowered car
thats sweet...what piece above the panhard...whats it for?
the rims arent the salad shooters though...they are the chrome 5 spoke's...I think they were a tad skinnier then the salad shooters... I know my salad shooters would hold 255's
steve do me a favor to and pm me with how you got the car down to that weight...while still keeping the thing streetable with the seats in and bumper supports obviously still intact...I've run out of ideas of what to take out...

Re: panhard on non lowered car
My front bumper support is gone for the intercooler, I haven't wieghed it but another guy on fullthrottle weighed his with what he has done and whet he weighs and it was like 29?0 something. My car domain has my parts, like Tub. K , Tub. lower/upper A arms, 14LB batt. up front and soon a 1Qt. alm resivor, lighter seats Spearco, rear seat delete, no spare tire or jack, Tunnel mount TQ arm, fiberglass hood/spoiler, no windsheild res., lighter carpet, chromly LCA's/Panhardrod, subframe connectos, no EGR/EVAP, plastic molding up front, heat sheilds , QA-1 front shocks/springs, front Prostars(30LBS) for the track, MT drag radials 275/40/17's on 17X9 rims for the track, misc. metal cut out(LOL),and upper panhardrod removed I think thats about it , might be more, but I'm adding a 3 core 2" thick radiator that weighs 19lbs empty and don't know how much full. The turbo parts and 1.5 gallon metanol injection trunk mount setup. I have my Optima in a battery box in the rear too. I can remove my stereo and rear battery for the track. I think I would remove the front ST 35mm sway bar too, that 34LBS for the track also.08' L76 6.0L 4X4 Chevy EXT.Cab LTZ Vortec MAX with Snug top cover, Dynomax exhaust,Hptuners& K&N intake

Yeah, the main help with a pan hard bar is from the bushings. It helps with latitudinal wheel hop and overall stability of the rear axle. Yeah, tubular is normally lighter and stronger, but the most benefit is from the bushings.

Re: panhard on non lowered car
Same here. Car runs, drives and feels like brand new. I kind of figured, while I was doing it, that it would feel like a go cart, but much to my surprise, she's real smooth and comfortable. Just gotta lube every 6 months or so. Well worth the investment.
