hey guys, im getting the gas adjust shocks up front, and i want to know what you guys think about the rear.. should i also get the gas adjust, or should i go with the gr-2's?

will they be the same height?

the gr2's are almost half the price of a gas adjust

    Re: rear kyb shocks

Shocks won't affect the ride height at all, so you won't have to worry about that aspect.

Because the fronts are adjustable judging by the name, you should be able to get a safe ratio from front to back going. Probably the worst thing that could happen is excessive over or understeer depending on if they are considerably more or less stiff, but I couldn't tell you which if any you would get, knowing next to nothing about those shocks in particular.

I realize you are not trying to make your car perform any better, but safety also comes in to play with this type of thing, particularly with emergency maneuvers. Chances are you'll be completely fine, especially if the shocks are adjustable. See if you can find dampening rates and compare the rears of the gas adjusts to the rears of the gr2s and post up what you find.

the gas adjust shocks are not adjustable.

i have heard that the KYB agx shocks (which are adjustable) have a higher ride height than stock, and they should be used when you get different springs.. i just wasnt sure if the gr2 or gas adjust were also the same.

i will look for some rates, thanks

Ah okay. that's my bad. Still check out the rates though, you will likely be fine.

As for ride height, only the fronts have the physical capability to raise or lower the car because of the spring perches, but when I compared mine to stock, they looked right about the same, and my car certainly didn't get any higher when I put the agx's on with stock springs.

awesome, thats kinda what i wanted to hear

now i just need to find out if its safe to put the different shocks on

i can get the gr2's for $40 and the gas adjusts for $80 so thats kind of a big difference for something that i might not even notice

            Re: rear kyb shocks

I had eibachs with KYB adj. on the front before I went with the QA-1's(300lb spring) and the KYB's were great with my weight reduction off the front, the eibachs didn't even lower it that much maybe 1/2". The rears I just put on 1LE spings(130-170LBs progressive rate) with new rubber isolators to raise it up more and I have Blistien HD shocks back there and the ride is great. But you need to make sure you have supporting suspension mods like front 32mm sway and a 19mm rear would be nice, also subframe connectors will stiffen the body up. Mine right now is ST 35mm front sway with 21mm rear sway works great. But I'm will be going with a front 32mm hollow sway saving 23LBS off the front and I will have to see if the 21mm rear is too much for it when I drive it, if so I will go down to a 19mm sway. But I'm thinkng with the weight in the rear and the stiffer springs/shocks the 21mm will be fine. So its just experimenting and seeing what works for your car. If you like the way it drives and find a empty lot and do some 40-0 stops and work it up to 55-0 mph stops to see if it brakes straight and if you can try a swerve at 40 mph and it handles the way you like then you'll know if it will be good in a emergency situation. I learned this in the Police Academy with Crown Vics and Impalas emergency braking and manuvering threw cones, so I find empty clear lots or roads and have some fun. So I wil know what to expect in a stituation in my car if it happens. Might not be the best advice but it works for me. Good luck with it and be safe.

I saw your thread on tech but figured I'd reply here. If Strano suggested the GR2 shocks, then I'd go for those. He knows what will work and what won't, so if he said having Gas-A-Justs up front and GR2s in back is fine, I'd stick with that. You'll also be saving yourself $40.
