  • Best cheap thing to minimize body roll

I'm looking for the best inexpensive thing(s) to reduce body roll. Been auto xing lately, and I've been loosing time to make up for intense body roll. I've been looking at sway bars. Good move, or is there something a bit better for the money out there?

Cheap, quick, easy, and effective usually never come together in one sentence when it comes to modding cars, however, I think I can say that you can get some solid gains with minimal cost out of pocket on this one with a set of 32/19 factory sway bars off an SS or WS6. Check out the V8 boards. It will reduce body roll significantly without any real adverse effects because it's a safe combo and OE equipment on other cars.

You may even be able to find guys selling them for cheap with poly bushings and even endlinks. I think I spent under 120 bucks for both front and rear with ES bushings and endlinks, and it was a great improvement in handling. Or you could just go for the front bar, which will reduce your body roll a lot but give you some understeer.

i second that^^ i did most of my suspension as a package so it's hard to say individually which part had the greatest impact but i can say i did my subframe connectors separately and they made one hell of a difference.

^ yes my car felt like superman around corners after we got through putting on the sub frame connectors, I had the STB too and just about everything else. But when I took my STB off here lately I can noticed the difference, also changing my front sway out from a 35 to a 32 sway made a difference.

My favorite suspension mods were sway bars, springs, and SFC/STB, though I noticed a bigger everyday (non performance) gain with the shock tower brace, namely entering slanted driveways at an angle, car felt much more solid. Sway bars reduced body roll the most, and the springs just made the car feel like new.

Does the size matter (19mm - 32mm), and also what are the recommended brushings?

Poly bushings would be a good starting point.

Poly bushings should only be used in certain key parts, ie. swaybar bushings, endlinks, motor mounts, and torque arm. For this situation, the only way poly would help is in combination with a 32mm 1LE sway bar. I wouldn't suggest getting a bigger rear sway bar until shocks have been addressed. Shocks would really help out in this too, but are going to cost more.

So at this point, a 1LE front sway bar would be your best bet. Get some poly bushings and endlinks to go with it, along with some grease, and you'll notice a difference in body roll.

Your 2000 comes stock with a 28mm front bar and 15mm rear bar. At this time I would just address the front until you get shocks. You could get a 30mm, but would probably get the best deal on a 32mm front bar. Poly sway bar bushings and endlinks from Autozone or O'Reilly's will work fine, just remember to grease them. If you don't feel like using poly, Moog hard rubber bushings and endlinks work well too.

Here's one for sale at a good price.

if you only want to do one mod it would have to be subframe connectors hands down

Subframe connectors and a tunnel brace will stiffen the car greatly.
