  • Bolts for New K member?

I read somewhere I should pick up some bolts at a hardware store for this Tube K member install. It was a long time ago and I have no idea where I read that. Anyone know specifically what bolts and the sizing?

You'll need new bolts for sure, I would email 97RS4LIFE since he had the group purchase going on , maybe he can get you the bolts, I think they were like $20 but it would be worth it ,for the time trying to find the bolts. I have no idea, since I did the K and lower A arms and it was too long ago to remember. Good luck.

They did not supply new bolts with the K member you should be able to get the bolts from the supplier of the Kmember most are included with purchase.

Yeah 4 bolts came, but I'm not sure what they go to just yet. I'm sure I'll figure it out when I actually start taking things apart but I want to have everything I need when I start the install so I don't have to run out and get anything.

Well the bolts that come with it should only be the mounting bolts for the K member it's self I am fairly sure you would need new bolts for the Motor mounts and such. It has been a while but I believe the Kmember is held on with 6 bolts 3 each side maybe 4 it has been a bit sent I removed the one for the Fbird so not 100 percent sure.

I didnt have any luck finding grade 8 hardware when I installed mine other than the washers. I had to use grade5 zinc plated bolts.

Screw it. I started it anyways so I'll just figure it out on my own.

I had a GM mechanic and the parts department helping me do mine so I can't complain, all for $100. I know the A arms I had the shorter bolts for because we used about have the bots I had bought. The rack & pinion I had bolts for too.Just install those the other way incase you have to mess with it again because if you have taken the bolts out for the R&P you'll find they will hit. I think that was one of the changes we made , that and the bolt where the A/C goes so it doesn't hit the motor mount and gives you access to the other K member bolt ot it might have been a A arm bolt.
