How many of you guys are running the universal ones? They seem much cheaper, like 24$ as opposed to 90$ + for one specifically made for the f-body.
How hard is it to make the univeral ones work, apparently they fit all sorts of cars...Dunno what install would be like on something like this though...anyone have advice?
I dont think I have to take the loop out for this, but at the same time, Im not 100% sure if this would fit without any modifications either. Or how hard this would be to install....
Ya know that stock cross brace? You could easily replace that with this and install it there with little modification. Or somewhere else along the driveshaft.. What.. 4 bolts per side? Find somewhere to drill. Or run self tappers. Or even better yet, fork out the money for a torque arm with a loop.
Why are you afraid of your ds coming loose anyways?
yea but my question is what does it take to make it work on our cars? or does it just bolt up and go? Do I need to take the DS out...?
it depends on the kind you buy
that ebaylink, you can install it without removing the driveshaft, the one i posted you will have to remove the driveshaft.. but really, it takes 4 bolts to remove a 1 piece driveshaft and less than 5 min extra work, you dont even have to remove it from the transmission so no worries about loosing fluid

stock exhaust on f bodies sag over time and bang that cross member, and also rattles/vibrates against it
mine vibrates on it and im going to purchase a DS safety loop soon.. sure you can just remove the cross member, but for $35, why take the chance?
im assuming that is what he needs it for because there may be 5 v6 camaros out there that have the power to actually use the DS safety loop in the matter it was intended for
Im not worried about the driveshaft coming loose that much, other then it is a safety feature if it does come loose...my main concern is when I get some drag radials/slicks...NHRA rules require you to have one if you want to race at the track...so thats why I am looking into it...I dont know if I actually have the power that warrants it...but my build will eventually have the heads done along with the intake manifolds...I hope to have a 12 second N/A car...either way...it is a piece of mind, and will be required at the race track, that is mainly why I am asking...
edit* I was actually thinking of putting it exactly where the crossbrace was....
Isn't the crossbrace meant to firm up the floor pans though as well? I know they sell beefed up tunnel braces for like $80, that replace the crossbrace that is there....
Bottom line is I just didnt want to fork out the money 20-30$ plus shipping to get one of the safety loops, for it not to fit on the car....
Haven’t done anything on the Camaro, but put LEDs on my truck headlights . And my oil pressure sensor went out on the truck so going to fix that this...
