  • Torque arm relocation

I was looking on Hawksthirdgenparts.com at TQ arm relocation crossmembers from BMR, and UMI. Does anyone know if one of these will work with a T-5? There isn't a choice for one, just T-56, 4l60E, TH350, and TH400. I would really like to get one of these because a while back, I stripped out the hole (dont ask how, I couldnt tell you), on the tranny tail shaft, and now have a helicoil in it.

Go with UMI Tunnel mount TQ arm, well worth it, tranny hole aslong as you have the helicoil on there should be fine. I used those on my belt tensionor and they hold up fine. Might look into a poly trans mount, will last a lifetime.

Do they make non adjustable tunnel brace tq arms??? All the suspension parts I want to use I want to be non adjustable. I want to make the car handle at stock height.

With the UMI TQ arm you would want it Adj. So you can dial in your pinion angle for more improvement off the line. You might as well stay with the stock or get a aftermarket stock arm if you don't want to adjust the angle to improve the traction. Mines just about stock height and having the UMI TQ arm at I think is -2 makes it plant the tires so it grips when you get on it.

          Re: Torque arm relocation

i just got rid of my spohn tunnel mounted tq arm. Im switching to go to a BMR relo bar and tq arm. With it being lowered it just had no ground clearance with it. Other than that i had no problem and was happy with it.

            Re: Torque arm relocation

Thay hang low , I had to raise mine back up to stock height, left my Relcation brackets alone and it hooks like crazy until the street tires get hot.

if you can fabricate..go with the ls1 automatic one. i used that one from UMI and welded on some steel to the front to extend to my poly trans mount. that one IMO is the easier to use to fabricate.

                  Re: Torque arm relocation

About 4" + something like that, I would measure it but its too hard for me to get under there with tape, but just looking thats what I would say.

                      Re: Torque arm relocation

When mine was lowered I got stuck in a carwash that was on a slope had to floor it to get unstuck and from going sideways into the carwash poles , did nothing to the TQ arm just scratch , but bent the cross member stamped metal where the 4 bolts bolt to. I just welded it up alittle. So it is slanted alittle but everything stayed fine with the pinion angle and everything else. Still no problems with it. Very well made.
