Ok I have a full assembled rear end from a 2000 TA coming and i want to use the brakes on my 94 firebird. The Axel i bought has the brakes on it so is there anything else i need? the drums on my car are still functional so i thought the brake lines could be bolted right on. I was told the system would be out of perportion ( front to rear bias) and would need to swap the master cylinder is this true?
here is a link to the part
I have not done a disc swap before, but there is alot of info on it on the site. You will have to see what all you can dig up. I think the e-brake cables will hook right up, but the hydraulics will not. As far as propotioning; you can pick up a ABS controller for an all disc f-body pretty cheap.
for the hydraulic lines i have the drum lines on my car and i have the lines from the disk setup that lead from the caliper down the axle and to the hard lines on the chassis, one of the two should be able to work right?
Your old ones should work, mine worked for me but mine is a 96' and I got the stuff off a 97' Z28.

No, you do not have to swap the master - the ABS module controls this.
The problem is whether the rear has 4-channel ABS. You have the reductor ring in the rear, not so on the 4-channel, it's at the wheels. You will have to take the rear apart to install the ABS reductor.
as long as its 3 channel and not 4 channel the line on the axle will bolt right up to the line on the body. it connects at this bracket behind the driver's side rear wheel.
as long as your old rear had abs (and no tcs) and the new rear has abs and no tcs then youll be fine.
just be careful, the swap is relatively straight forward but can be a pain in the ***. an axle that looks perfectly fine might really be bent when you finally drive it. especially if its a junkyard or wreck axle.

ok well if the new rear had TCS and a 4ch system i can still just keep my housing and swap the LSD, brakes and axles over right? adding the older reductor gear of course
u can put a 4 channel in a 3 channel car, even if it has TC and ABS in the wheels. the plugs for the ABS are usually the same, and the brake lines take some fabrication but its not difficult.
untill I got the right ones I made a loop on the end of each one to use if I really needed it. I Told autozone it was a 2000 incase there was a difference I dont know if there is a difference though

Yes you could swap the gears/brakes/axles from the newer rear to the older rear.
You might want to do the 98+ front brake conversion to balance it out.
Your rear brakes will be much larger than the fronts if you don't.
My next brake mod will be doing the 98+ front brakes with Earls brake lines all around and I already did the drum to disc in the rear, not really worth or trying to do a 98+ brake upgrade for the rear since their still both 1 piston caliper, but a I'm going to install a proportioning valve from Jegs($45) that connects to the rear master part so I can adjust the rear so it doesn't over power the front since you want a 70 front/30 rear braking setup. I know here where it is dry thats the best combo and I think its recommended. I have alot of weight reduction off the front so I need to adjust mine somehow. Also for the front a SLP line lock for some smoke shows.LOL
