    SOMETIMES when I pull the lever on my e brake it doesn't always light up on my dash any thoughts ?

    I'll activate the e brake and pull it all the way up and nothing shows up on my dash to show that its engaged

        maybe the contact point under the center console?

          Connector for E-brake or like Meaty said contact point is bad.

            does any one have pix ? and I have an a4 so how many bolts do I need to take of so my console comes off

              To get the console off on an a4, you open up the center console, and there's two little bolts in there... take those out, and then the middle piece should lift up. to get the entire base off (to get to the airbag unit and some other wires and crap) there are more bolts in the bottom of the center console and a couple up under the dash below the radio and stuff... they kind of bolt onto two metal tabs that stick out, one on each side.

              I'd go take some pictures, but my car is at my house, and sadly I'm at college without it... :(

                get a small screwdriver and pry the clip out that holds on the shifter, and take those couple of screws out, its really easy.

                      just look at the e- brake assembly, you will see a little thing with two tabs on it and wires.

                      when the e brake hits it, it makes the light come on
