New to the forum, just saying hello and looking forward to checking out the site. I have a 98 Camaro V6 I bought cheap with a bad engine with a rod knock but perfect body and good interior. Looking for the best options for replacing the motor and doing upgrades. Would love to do an LS swap but not in my budget or skills. So was thinking either a crate 3.8, or rebuild the current motor that has 155k miles.. Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Looking forward to meeting some new fellow Camaro enthusiasts!

Welcome onboard! Do you have an pics of it or a list of plans?

If you make a post over in the 4th gen tech area you'll get guys chipping in to help you out. Lots of good info on this site. You can replace the 3800 really easily and cheaply- I wouldn't go the crate motor route... all said and done you can replace the motor for under $1000 possibly inder $500 depending on what you have at your disposal

    2002 SOM Z28 Camaro - 12.9 @ 104 mph
    1996 3800 Camaro - 13.43 @ 100.77 mph

Great! Thanks. I'll drop some posts in those sections. It's just stock with t-tops right now.. plan on doing engine work, body kit, SS hood, interior upgrades, center exhaust and custom vinyl wrap.

Welcome. There's plenty of 3800 parts that you can buy cheap. If you plan on tearing apart the motor you can get some upgrade from 3800performance and zzp.
