  • Hello everybody!

I've been a CHEVY guy all my life, but also an MG guy. I currently have a 2013 Cruze, 2013 Silverado, '95 3500HD, '94 3.4 Camaro, '72 MGB-GT and '66 MGB rdstr.I joined this group to pick some brains on the Chevy 60deg V6 family. For those of you not familiar, there was a factory MGB GT V8. The MGB was 1st produced in 1962 and they started making the MGB GT hatchback coupe in 1965. In August 1973 they brought out the MGB GT V8 The reason I'm laying all this out is to explain the tie in to General Motors. In 1961-63 GM made an ALL ALUMINUM 215ci V8 and put it in the Olds F85, Buick Special and Pontiac Tempest. But they only lasted 3 years because the Big cube, high HP GTO's, Malibu's and Gran Sports were coming. GM sold the rights to the Aluminum engine to British Leyland who massaged it a bit and started putting it in Rovers, and eventually the MGB GT and a Triumph.

Long story shorter... The Chevy 60deg V6 fits in the MG much better than a 90deg V8and can be just as much fun. There are a lot of V6 conversions out there and I am collecting parts now for my winter project and I am going to be asking some questions about the 3.4, 3400 and 3800. Thanks for the ADD!
