So I got to work as a backup mechanic for Momentum Race Group... they have 2 2010 Camaros.
Awesome machines, actually got to do a little bit of work when one of the cars crashed in the race but the owner decided to not worry with it, since the steering linkage is what got trashed.
You mean my prowess of being a mechanic isn't world renown? Team was looking for decent mechanic for the race in Miami. I told them my past of rear several axle swaps, tranny swaps, t-tops conversion, and that I am an FAA Airframe rated mechanic working on my Powerplant rating.
Like the guy said above, they have a small crew, another guy and I were just around in case they wrecked to try and fix it and get it back on the track. Which happened one car did wreck out, we were prepping to get it ready but the owner said forget it, not worht it. Steering rack was bent. We were gong to be able to swap out the whole steering rack in less then an hour. Was alot of fun. Got some food, and paid my way through the race just fun experience and an interesting thing to throw on a resume.
Most small teams have little or no crew, you go to the paddock at your local race and ask if they need help.
You usually get a team T shirt or something.
In the 90's I did that with the 4th gens when they were kicking but in the Imsa Enduroseries.
You can learn alot about the cars real quick.
Heh, who knows you might have worked with one of the teams I bought my wheels from. Bought some Speedline Mistrals 17" x 9.5" the team bought them when they were made legal to run in the SCCA series and a few other groups. Now they're in my hands :)
Haven’t done anything on the Camaro, but put LEDs on my truck headlights . And my oil pressure sensor went out on the truck so going to fix that this...
