• FREE 96 camaro convertible!!!!!!!!!

well i got a free 96 camaro convert. tonight, i gave them (co-corker) my newly acquired 97 (they will pay off the 4700$) and i got the 96.

so far i have found:
dual flowmasters,
passengers side motor (conv. top) bracket is broken in 1/2
drivers head light out, pass fog light out
both fogs have broken glass
interior stained beyond beleif
broken center console
no drivers sun visor
hub cap rims with stock s-10 tires
brake pedal and car shudder violently when braking, tail light burnt out
pass. window motor dead

but het its was freeeeeee so im not complaining, it will be a great restoration/project
i am figuring about 3,ooo$ should make it mechanically sound, and another 3k for paint

you should sell it to get another f-body so you can have a nicer car and come out owing less money. you going to spend more money on that peice then if you got a nicer camaro

If you can fix it up to at least sellable condition, go for it man. I'd enjoy a vert, plus having no car payments ROCKS

as long as its the body style you want, fix it up. Your not going to gain much by getting a newer one except a car payment.

looks like your 2 biggest things will be buying new seats and new brakes, other than that there are just minor cosmetic things.. except the motor mount

I'm confused here. What condition was your 97 in? mileage etc.

From the post you have made so far, I'm almost betting whoever you traded is bragging just as much and probably more justified to do so.

You got a free car yet it's gonna take 6k to fix it. But you traded for a car that you only had $4700 remaining on. Unless your car was in way worse shape I think bragging should be kept to a minnimum.

You no longer have a car payment, yet you now have a repair bill worth 2/3's the cars value maybe more. The other guy, I'm assuming has a far morereliable car and 2/3's his debt?

I guess maybe I'm the only one not understanding this.

So you traded a 97 that you owed $4700 on for a 96 that will cost, by your statement, $6000 to fix.

BTW, a free car is one you get for nothing. Like the 1964 Buick I had. It was given to me. And I didn't have to give anything to get it.

i might sell it but if i fixed it , it would be sweet
sorry to say but there is no damn way i'd every pay 8000 for a 96 w/103,000 miles....it might be worth that if it was an LT1 but even then i doubt it...

yeah the 8k for the rs was a bit high, too much, but it is nice, still way to much, although the kelly blue book on it was around 8500.

i guess i didnt explain it properly(the convertible situation) so.....

MY 97 was fixed up mechanically to be near perfect. i wanted to sell it right after i bought it for 4700 because a girl i work with offered me 5k for it . the 97 has 104000 miles. i was unsure if i should sell it SO
they offered me this

WE WILL BUY YOUR CAR OUTRIGHT (giving my 5k for it)
AND WE WILL GIVE YOU OUR CAR (96)
so i sold my car clean and clear... took the money, paid it off. THEN they GAVE me a 96 camaro convertable which needs work, not really 6 $k worth of work but over time to make it like new it would cost about that, because i am a perfectionist. so , i got the car for FREE as an added bonus to sell them mine.
