I wanted to start a disgussion on this. I don't know if it is just me or not...but i am disgusted with Chevrolet putting the SS name on all these cars. The Camaro...that is a SS, the truck, i will give you that, but everything else is in my opinion a disgrace to the SS name! Chevrolet is making a joke of the SS name and i don't know about you but it really makes me sad.
Just wanted to see how everyone else felt about this.
2002 M5 camaro- VTR CAI, custom cat-back exhaust, battery compacitor, pullie, lowering springs, 32mm sway bar, cross-drilled slotted rotars. 1-10\" L7 in cubby.
It seems sort of ignorant. The "SS" name has been the symbol of chevy for how many years now? Fifty + . Super Sport cars used to be the biggest things on the street, now they're the laughable joke brother of a honda civic.....
Black \'94 Trans Am A4- SLP CAI & Loudmouth<br />Red \'93 Firebird A4- Ram Air under the WS6 hood, !cat, exhaust.
Well, not really ignorant in a buisness sense. Just stupid in our eyes.
However, you all are right. The SS name has become a joke because they are using the SS name to sell their ****ty cars/everything. SS + $hit = Expensive $hit = More profit.
Supercharged Malibu? Please. I'd rather stick my d|ck in a cactus. They are doing it to appeal to the masses who want a 'street' car. Just take a look at the Toytoa Celica. Those things used to be BA. Now they come with a bag of rice.
This would be like if Ford started sticking SVT on like all their cars. Who in their right mind would beleive, better yet buy, a high performance SVT Tarus??
WTF ever happened to cheap + power = good? Thank god for Ford.
SS belongs to Super high performance cars that only a few deserve to bear that title, not every other car off of the line.

An SVT Taurus could compete with the GTO, that would be great. Its just the fact that the SS cars now compete with the Accord V6 and the Tiburon GT, instead of a Ford GT, or a SVT Cobra. I just dont know when SS got the new meaning Super Sh|t.

well... yeah, but I mean, what kinda of name would that make for SVT? SVT has a great name for itself, at least in my eyes. that 06 Shelby SVT Cobra is PIMP and their 05 body style Mustang Cobras are very nice. If they started doing lower level cars, that would just tarnish their good name... kinda like GM has done with the SS. you know what I mean? I'm not saying that they ( all the recent GM SS's) can't compete with the higher class cars like the GTO and such. I just think that GM should make a new name for 'street' and keep SS for higher class cars.
like i said eariler

Who cares. If thats what sells to keep GM afloat and to save american jobs, you should be greatful. Obviously the "general" public isn't that concerned about having super fast cars.
However, I do see the point of this arguement. They probably should have named the Cobalt supercharged something else, but you have to realize to a lot of young people, its cool to have a peppy car that bears the SS name.
