  • 2008/9 Camaro -- possibly coming out

Here's a very informative article regarding the production of the Firebird/Camaro. The last couple of paragraphs are quite interesting.

yanno whats really sad. that people have this stance on the whole thing. you guys are not hopeful and enthusiastic and if we arent then who else is gonna be?

if everyone in the f-body community says that they arent hopefuly of a return, maybe gm wont put out a car, ever think of that?

GM has already dropped a P.R. stating that the next gen camaro will debut in the NAIS 2006 show. I have SEEN sheets (offical GM documents) for the "2007" camaro release, now pushed back a year or two.

Seriously people. The Camaro is coming back. Hasn't anyone else figured out why GM "killed" the platform (and i use the " " on purpose)?

Think GM/Canada Relations. Think St. Therese Plant. Think Contractual Obligations. Think GM losing money in Canada producing the f-body there.

St. Therese is now a vacant lot from what I've heard. Means that if GM built a f-body now they would have to go somewhere else...somewhere in America...

Think about all this. And remember, if we don't dream and hope for the return of a vehicle that we care about so much, who will?

Do you really think GM cares what fellow F-body owners think? Do you SERIOUSLY think that? They are in it for the money. Simple as that. If the Camaro DOES infact reimmerge, it will be for competition to Ford's Mustang, not because the fans want it back. Corporations care about money, cold hard truth.

Chevy does need an entry level rwd sports car. If they name it camaro or not I could really care less. As long as the fit and finish is similar to the GTO and it has good performance.

While they are at it I would also like to see a turbo awd rally car from some company at GM (probably pontiac). Yeah, I know it won't happen, but it would be nice.

I agree, money is their number one priority. They don't really care what we think, or what we want.

its sad that you all believe that.

GM cares as much about what people out there think or there wouldnt even be a car. yes they are a business and they are in it for the money, but in business there has to be a demand, has to be a market for a product or they wouldnt bother.

                we are that market.

i feel sorry for everyone that feels that gm doesnt give a **** about us. i really do.

                so sad.

Has there ever been mention of bringing the firebird back? Why are all efforts being focused on the camaro and I hear little to no mention of the firebird/trans am. I know it's because camaro would follow then later GM would consider sales and blah blah blah but if everything did go according to plan, wouldn't the eventual re-release of the firebird line be inevitable?

Gm has stated that the firebird is dead, but they have kind of danced around saying the status of the camaro.

Gah why would it be dead! If the Camaro sold well wouldn't there be a chance to bring the firebird back?

The Firebird has been replaced by the GTO -- GM has already stated that fact. As for "Dancing around the status"

GM had to do that due to legal concerns regarding the contract they had with Canada and the St. Therese plant I would wager.

its not that i dont want it to come back, but until i see something from GM itself as far as pics or specs on it, i will be on the ill believe it when i see it bandwagon.

i want it to come back as bad as anyone else, but specutlation from the internet and magazines, and pictures rendered by artists and photochoppers isnt concrete proof that its coming out.

i just cant get pumped up over conceptual pictures that are not from gm.

if the camaro rolls out into the nais show at the begining of the year i will believe. until then i just cant get my hopes and dreams up for something that nobody really knows about other than hearsay.
