  • any of you have experience with ITT? or any other Technical programs?

I was at Atlantic Technical center for a while doing CCNA.. i dropped it for two reasons.. One.. is was a self teaching class.. paying 800 a semester to go to a class room and teach myself wasnt worth it.. . and the other was because of lack of funds...

well now that my brother is done with school. its my turn. so my parents are going to help me.

I want to get into it with both apple and IBM. I was thinking about ITT Tech since its so all over the place. and im sure its credible?

My friend is 20 years old who stuck with networking and is now making 50 k a year and travels the world all paid for his company. i am extremely jealous.

any of you got any advice to point me in the right direction.

I've already managed to make it half way through CCNA, with some decent memory of it... so its not like im retarded in the field..

    ahh... help

I can tell you from personal experience ITT is an absolute waste of money
You can get a better degree from a community college
As valedictorian of my class and a 4.0 student, it scares me how much I do NOT know about my field
they charge an insane amount of money (probably close to 40,000 for 2 years now, it was 35,000 when I went in 2002 - 2004) and the degree is worthless
NO ONE takes their credits, the teachers dont know anything
if you pay your tuition you get a degree, unfortunately most employers know this
    I HIGHLY reccomend AGAINST ITT
the career resource center is a JOKE
I got my job because of who I know, and by luck
then the resource lady came over and had me sign some papers, next thing I know, she took credit for getting me my job and she didnt do jack
I was frustrated and dissapointed all through my education (or lack of) experience
any specific questions feel free to ask, I got loads more where that came from

I have not been to ITT, but as far as other schools stay far far away from The Chubb Institute. I went there for Network engineering, and I ended up teaching half of the class. The teachers were not really good when it came to asking questions, or asking for something to be broken down so it could be understood better. There was one teacher that I loved, unfortunately I only had the teacher for the first quarter. After that the teacher quit.

I'd have to learn towards in the technology field, certifications are worth as much as a degree. Since you said you want to work on both pcs and Apples, I'd say get your ccna, look into the ccnp, A+ is a def., MCSE, and for the Apple certs, go to http://train.apple.com/certification/ and look through the courses they offer to see what you want/need to take. Don't get me wrong- I'd never say give up a higher education, but certs are just as important now.
