  • Curious...

    A friend of mine just got an '82 firebird that used to have the original V6 in it for real cheap.

    He can get a 3.8 out of a newer f-body for almost nothing (so he says) and wants to put that in there with a turbo setup, He has hp tuners and everything. Was wondering what would have to be done to make that work?

    I think it be different and pretty sweet if it was done right and with the right setup, What You guys think? Can it be done?

    ummmmm, yes.

    I did the 3800 II as one of my 34,561 engine swaps in my 85 bird.

        it should be noted that nate took 165 years to finish the swap, then quickly swapped another motor in :p

          I was going to say. Check with him.

          There's another guy that did it to his 86 Camaro, but I don't think he's a member here.

            Yeah I'm just curious as to how getting a pcm and wiring harness and coi packs and all that to work in a car that didnt come with that kind of technology.

            I guess You just put it all where it is in the 4th gens?

              I think I'm thinking of the guy that did the LT1 swap into his Firebird...that was epic fail, haha.
