3.4 vs 305

[95firebird3.4]

i was thinking about getting a 85 camaro with a 305 but i heard that they are slower than a 3.4 is that true?

IIRC, Horsepower TV put one on a dyno and got 144rwhp out of it, stock.

depends, most 305s are slow because theyre running like doo doo.

is it an lb9? thats the best one. the l69 isnt bad, but the lg4 is pretty ***. still has more torques than a 3.4l.


theyve all got tons more potential than a 3.4l, and parts are cheap too.


i drove an lb9 and it was slower than my 3.4, but it had also been sitting for atleast 5 years. properly running, itd be no contest.

350 swaps are easy,plus they are cheaper to build, but the 4th gen is nicer looking and better handling.

yeah, but in the third gens you can actually see the WHOLE engine & have room to work on it.

Did you race him from a Dig?

i did but it was a hurried race if you know what i mean. i'm going to try and get him to race me at a track one day. but my clutch slips and i have a bald tire. getting a new clutch in the next week or so.

i would love to get a 350 tpi that is pretty much my dream engine. there's a lot of stuff u can do with it.

I thought so,it was a b#tch to work around the pollution tubes on the stock logs taking them off.

Plus SLP welded the one section of the crossover pipe backwards:rolleyes:

The 4th seemed easier,maybe because I went through hell on the 88.
