• Drag wheels for ... road racing?

Any reason I shouldn't use Welds for Autocross? I know they're a favorite for folks at the strip because they're custom and lightweight, but how would they hold up laterally in addition to straightline? Ignore the fact that I'd have to switch to 15" tires from 16" ...

I would say no they are not good for auto-x cause they are light weight aluminum and they bend and crunch easly on the wheel it even says not for the street

I'll be honest, I dunno.
Call Weld and ask
I don't think skinnies would work for road racing though

the Weld XP's would probably work but not the original pro-stars or drag-lites...

Usually AutoCrosser's like to bigger wheels (in diameter). I think the reason being is there's a larger contact area with the road.

IGNORE Sizing, tire contact patch ... all of that is not important for this particular question. And ignore the fact that most Welds come in max 15" sizes (pretend I have a honda or something with smaller wheels).
Are lightweight drag-designed wheels safe to use in a road racing environment?
Probably not, but I'm curious.

i would def. not use them for road racing. a lot of lateral forces are on your wheels, drag rims arent made for turning

they make 16" welds ;)

they make 18" welds! http://www.weldracing.com/ProStarXP.html I wish i could afford a set of these...i think some 17x9.5's would look good...
