I checked out a couple..Dynabat and a couple others. I guess they are dry cell. I'm looking for a little weight reduction. Any suggestions on decent ones? And while we're on the subject...anyone know exactly how much a Diehard battery weighs? (Haven't weighed mine...but I know it's heavy as hell.) Thanks.

ive got the hawker has worked great for almost a year so far. Only problems I have heard with it is in the cold (real cold) it sometimes has problems cranking. I live in the south so it is not a problem for me.
The hawker is the same as the dynabat except CHEAPER it only like 70 buck plus shipping total weight is 13.5 for the hawker

Ok, cool, thanks for the quick responses. Is it easy to mount or do I need to make a bracket? And where should I purchase it? Thanks again...

Shirl, do NOT do this.
You run a bottle warmer, FMU for fuel, nitrous system etc which require high demand on power.
I'm a weight reduction nut but I will not do this.

Alternator will supply the power.
Just don't use any electrical stuff when the car is off and you'll be fine.Keith - Chicago
HP Tuners - PCM Reprogramming
97 Firebird V6 to LS1 swap
V8 9.967@132.78 1.322 60\' NA Heads/Cam
V8 10.295@128.48 1.363 60\' NA Cam Only
V8 10.987@119.31 1.422 60\' NA Stock Internals
V6 13.674@98.22 NA
V6 12.394@104.91 N20 100HP

I was wondering about that...not enough amperage in that battery?? I ordered the 4 point roll bar from RK today...I was thinking of balancing things out a little. I'd only use that battery at the track...why wouldn't it be good? I don't run anything with the car off. But I do run the fuel pump, (sometimes) the fan, and bottle warmer in the staging lanes. I was wondering if that little battery had enough power.. Thanks

the smaller dry cell type batts have similar CCA and reserve capacity as traditional wet cell batts for the most part.
fans and such will drain either type of batt pretty quick since they are fairly high draw.
if you wanna make extra sure things are gonna be good enough go through the trouble of replacing the stock crappy batt cables with a set of nice 0gauge cables for power and ground side. that alone will free up some of the battery strength.

you could use the fans or whatever for a minute or 2 with the car turned off, I run my high fan for a minute or 2 no problem
when the car is on the alt. suppies the power like magnus said, the volt gauge drops for a sec when i turn the high fans on but then jump right back up, voltage wont me a problem if you dont run things when the car is off, and you could still run say your heater for a minute or 2 easy
worse case senserio you leave something running, get a jump, a set of cables+the hawker < then your stock battery by atleast 20 lbs
hawker = 13.5
cables = 4 lbs
stocker = 40-45lbs
yes you need to make a bracket or something, mine actully lays flat, remeber you have to make a tie down for it to be legel and since your running a little fast they may at some point check, probably not tho

70 bucks plus shipping
I got mine here
http://www.gotbatteries.com/ProductP...ctNum=37L105S1
you will have to make or buy the connectors that hold the cable to the battery. If you cant find the connectors you can make one with a screw and some washers from any hard ware store, mine are made from screws and washers, I belive thunder sells the right connectors for like 20 bucks
basicly the hole on the battery that you hook up to is smaller then the one thats with the stock battery and you have to replace it
