  • Going to track wednesday... waht do you think of this setup...

    Going back to the track...

I was thinking of running my 275/40/17 in the rears, good rubber, and my bald 235/55?/16 in the front, not exactly skinnies but like skinnies compared to 275s...

I was debating abotu uncapping my exhaust or not... I just got a new OEM CAt put in on friday, has maybe 500 miles on it. Think it will be too free flowing? It will be stock tubular manifolds, through CAT, through S-pipe and dump out just at the start of the driveshaft.

I noticed more top end with the whole stock catback hooked up. I was surprised by it, now I know why you guys said I shoudl rev it out till the top end.

gonna do typical, no airbox, maybe a tube, to a colder spot over open TB. Maybe pull the belt... I am looking more for a 2.0 60' previous best was a 2.106 on stock tires, bald with 36k on them, new tires are alot sticker, bigger but heavier.

    any other thoughts.

also I will probably yank my STB.

i would think you would get the best top end with it uncapped, and the best torque with it hooked up. since you're looking for a tight 60', then i would leave the exhaust on.

i would be interested to see if the lower aspect ratio makes it harder to bite off the line, but i think the 275 mm wide rubber will keep that from happening.

        let us [me] know!

In theaory the lower aspect ratio will hurt me along with the heavier wheels, but then agains, these wheels stick alot better then my 16x8s ever did aspect ratio to hell or not... especially when heated up... no denying 40 mm wider tires, with decent rubber vs. 40 less mm of lower quality rubber that is bald.

I am going to do a bit longer burnout then usual to get these things a little warm...

If you had a Top Secret Nascar built 60* v6, you wouldn't have to worry about any of this!

Good look Eric, I look forward to your posts about your progress on a budget. Thats what counts. I would run the new tires on the back and stockers on the front. Why not?

Sometime soon, you should see if you can borrow someones slicks and skinnies! Try for 13s on $0 and borrowed slicks.

It seems belt off and exhaust uncapped, no air box is working, I would stick with it.

Eric- Do you do a dump or feather on the clutch?

feathered... probably featehr it less with the stickier rubber...

what worries me about the uncapped exhaust is the fact that it might be flowing too much... my old CAt was probably really on its way out when I raced it to the 14.4

1/4 mile times are 1/4 mile timesweight reduction, no belt... whatever ya gotta do (my car weighed under 3000 pounds when i went to the track last summer
