I have an automatic 3.8. Basicly stock I was running a 15.4 on my 18" corvette wheels. I got a cam (with springs, lifters, pushrods, retainers, timing set, etc.) and brought it down to a 15.2 because it wasn't tuned yet. Finally I went the other day after getting TSP mail order tune (increased rpms to 6500) and I ran a 14.95 @ 91, with a 2.23 60ft. still on street tires (so I was spinning some in first.) There's still room for improvement if I put some slicks on.

Anyways, what I'd like to do is get some 3.73s, because right now I'm shifting out of second right before the quarter mile mark. And also throw in a Limited slip. Then I'd like to throw in a 3400 torque converter and shift kit. I think all that would get me into the lower 14s...... what do you guys think? And then maybe it'll be time for a litte spray.........

I think you should find out some stuff about your car first. I'm just assuming you don't know, but what rpm range did your cam move the move power into? That should help you decide on what stall to get.

What were your trap speeds for all of these runs?

I think if you get the right stall, gears, and traction you could run under 14.5 for sure.

are you running that cam on stock heads? which cam?

fbody3400 is also right about the stall. get dynoed first to find where your powerband is then have the stall matched up with it.

it seems you did things a little backwards though. you should have addressed the gears and LSD before the cam. we have people here running high 14s with boltons.

IMO you need to get the rear done and look into the suspension. with those two things alone you should be hitting low 14s. then with a stall you could be dipping into the 13s N/A.

more info on your car and slip will help us help you.

Get a better tune!!! I've looked into cams, and if you don't have the torque management tuned properly with an auto and a cam it can keep your times down a lot. Properly tuned you should be seeing low-14s, that's what a typical cammed 3.8 runs with bolt-ons.

Get gears and a tune for now, that's it. Shake down your current setup before doing anything else like a converter.

TSP is pretty good. IDK. My car is running off a FastChip Dyno (Cam only) and edits from TSP mail tune (Heads, stall, gears).

If you want to have decent street manners I'd go with a 3000-3400.

my opinion, get some gear and some tuning and see where that puts you.. then move from there.
