So I went to the track last night (9/19/06) at Gateway Raceway. Which was my first time at a race track and my first time racing too. All I can say is, it was the best damn time ever lol. I had a blast, I only raced three times.
If you didn't know the car I have is my
1995 Pontiac Firebird Coupe
3.4 V6, 5 Speed Manual
I was guessing around high 17's low 18's since I haven't even had the car for a month, and to top it off this is basically my first manual car so i'm a rookie at it still lol. I rigged up a camera to my passenger seat(hilarious setup with shoelaces haha) and it looked good and plus I got a outside view of my driving down the track. So I need to edit the videos I took and pictures still. I was red lighted(whatever its really called) so my first race I ran by myself........which in a way was cool cause then I didn't "lose" against anyone on my first race haha. I got a 17.086 @ 80.30 mph. Not bad in my opinion considering major rookie with a manual, expecting 18's, and I believe my car runs high 16's stock??? So I was pleased. My other 2 runs were slower. Now that I have this "base" time down to work from I will start modifying my car now. My second race was against a 14 sec firebird formula, and the last one I did was against a 12 second Firehawk! Damnit lol, that guy made me look like I was standing still but glad to go up against some nice cars. I'll probably load up my timeslips, videos, pictures and etc on my cardomain sometime soon. Also till I load up all my own stuff to you can look at this site that had pictures of the whole night. Apparently the guy is the photographer for GIR and takes pictures of the events for them and you can order the pictures if you wanted.
