• My v8 convert is slower than a 6

So I went to the track to test out my 92, it's got a 350 TBI engine, M5 transmission, custom chip, platinum plugs, accel wires, 160 t-stat, 3.08 LSD, 255/50 Dunlop SP Sport tires, Dual Exhaust, No air filter, etc...

Here's what it ran 17.0 to 17.2, why is it so slow????

look into one of my posts for some things to look at. any traction problems, clutch slipping, maybe the track was just crappy?.....

a 350? I have seen 305s run like that. do a compressoin check on the motor, you dohouls be in the 15s I think. maybe you are having something stupid like an igniotn problem, or fuel problem.

unless you put the motor in yourself its a 305 tbi (lo3) . third gens never came with a 350 tbi . and the only 350 to ever come in thirdgens (the l98 350 tpi) never came with a 5 speed to boot , gm was afraid the l98 would rip the little t-5 apart , like i said unless you did the motor swap , its a 305 tbi , even then , thats still a little slow , you should be in the low-mid 16 second range , sad but true . your can is rated at 170 hp so dont expect really fast times

I did put the 350 in myself, and it is beating the little t5 to death. My guess is that it is currently in the neighborhood of 250-275 hp, I think the 65 pound injectors that came on the 305 just aren't big enough for the 350. That coupled with the stock intake manifold, and zero traction (3.2 sec 60') is causing my problems.

3.2 60' good god man !!!!!!!! that is KILLING you . also 3.08s in the back arent helping . get the 60' down to at least a 2.1 and you will see a huge difference in your et

I am not sure I could get a 3.2 sec 60 foot if I dropped the clutch at 6k, with donuts in the rear.

thats oyur problem first off, dorp it almost a full second to a 2.2(open differntial, street tires i assume) that should get you mid 15s. I am not familiar to fuel related stuff on your car, but that may be your other problems, hell you my have a high 14 second car on your hands still.
