• got myself an 83 2.8L Camaro Berlinetta A4

won it at eBay last night for $280. :D the seller is 10 minutes from where i work. i dropped by at lunch time, paid the seller and got the title. hopefully, i get it registered and titled tomorrow and drive it home.

it's in a bad shape but in running condition. i'll slap a 3.4L motor on it and get it back in tip-top shape.

well, i haven't driven it home, yet, so no pics so far. i'm going carb. i have a 94 3.4L motor in the garage since January. i'll probably slap in an A.R.I. Phase 3 Camshaft. got a Cloyes double roller timing chain for my 93 but i'll probably put that in the 83. i'm still deciding on the rockers. i hope the salad shooters with 235's fit with no problem.

this is funny. i'm so auto-tranny illiterate. i can't find the dip stick to check the tranny fluid. i've own sticks all my life. from an Iron Duke to a Daytona to Onix.

BTW, here's more info i just found out about the Berlinetta: it's an A3 with 3.08 gear. i mistakenly listed it as A4 in my sig initially. i'll see if i can use the 4th gen A4 tranny on the 3.4L motor and a 4th gen rear with 3.23 also sitting in the garage. exhaust will need to be replaced. i wonder if the 4th gen exhaust fits??? i have so many junk in the garage suddenly turning to gold. :D

hmm if your gonna do the old tranny swap why not make it a 5-speed ;)
I hope the salad shooters fit, they should look good on that car,I've alawy wanted to see how those would look on a fisrt gen camaro

trannies on 4th gen models are computer controlled, we have TV cables. that will be your major hurdle to get over, if possible. Maybe one of those electric kits from painless wiring or what not. A3 you got the Metric 200
Tranny dipstick on pass side, by distributor. Should have yellow handle, at leat mine does.

i already have the A4 still hooked up to the 3.4L motor. i did some research on the salad shooters. i'll need spacers unless i swap in a 4th gen rear.

i have the PCM and all the wiring that came with the 3.4L motor and A4 tranny. i should be able to use that, i think. dangit, might as well go EFI. i don't know.

i found the tranny dipstick. thanks for the info. handle is black like almost everything else under that hood. it's tubes galore under there. i've never seen so many tubes.

if you got the ecm, wiring harness, & tranny, go for it

then you won't have to swap intakes or distributor, just motor mounts. I'm pulling the 2.8 this weekend, hopefully , and will try to test fit the 3.4 w/it's Y-pipe in place.

If you have a 3.4L engine and tranny from a 93 the tranny is not computer controlled. That started in 94. 93 still has kick down cables and all of the other fun stuff that goes with it. Nice score though with the car.

inthe late 80's, they did away with the speedo cable & used a VSS (Vehicle Speed Sensor), that's what I'm refering to as being computer controlled.
