What kind of OBD I scanner can I buy for my 89 bird?
When I had my 92 Camaro, I had a OBD1 scanner from kragen autoparts. It was only like 30 bucks and it would flash the SES light in a morse code manner, and that would translate into a DTC code. It was well worth the money.
For my 99 I bought a ODB 2 scanner from Kragen. It was only 99 dollars and it will read ODB1 as well, but this actually has an lcd readout of th code. Well worth the money.
I haven't tried autotap yet, and neither above will give you the same functions as autotap, but they were worth the money for retrieving and reseting the SES lights.
EDIT: If you ever want to meet up to get a SES light read and reset, I would be happy to meet up one day. I also have the Service Manual on my Laptop. So in a way Im like a portable diagnostic machine ;)
