  • Cam ?

Comp cams told me to get this cam. Let me know if its good. I want more hp but I don't want rough idle. My car is a daily driver. When I put the cam in ill have full 3 inch exhaust headers. Also will have slp CAI and whisper lid.

The 76-801-9 has an RPM Operating Range of 1000-5500. You need Intake improvements & must replace the valve springs. Take a look at the specs & let me know what you think.
    Thanks, Darrel Miles

112 ls that sounds like it would chop to hell and back, i dont think that will idle smooth like you want

Definately will not idle smooth. Widen out the LSA to 116 and go with more lift, like 212/212. Our engines don't need a split duration, that's more of a LS1 or forced induction thing.

no, won't idle smoothly, i've got 111 LS, is choppy, but has never stalled yet, even with a/c on.

i agree about the split duration too....if you're gonna keep it n/a, i'd personally go for same duration on intake/exhaust.

I have that cam. It is a variation of the controversial 200/206 grind.

I have put 1500 miles on mine so far. It has thrown the SES light once for a P0300 random misfire. It never did it again.

It pulls hard right up to the redline. I want to get my rev limiter raised to see how much higher it will go. It still makes plenty of power past 5500 rpm.

It is streetable and docile at lower rpm. It does lope a fair amount at idle, but only when the engine is at operating temp. It sounds really cool.

It likes to generate heat. If I leave the car idling, it will get hot way faster than the stock cam. It never gets close to overheating though, so don't let that scare you. A 160 deg thermo is a good compliment. This cam likes cold.

I have the stock valve springs on still. They haven't broken yet, but they chatter. I am going to replace them soon.
