  • Is there a Lambo door kit (vertical lift) for our birds?

Once i park into a narrow spot, i would have a hard time to get out~ Bcoz our birds really got big doors. That's why i'm looking for Lambo door kit. After spend a couple hours on ebay, and send lot's of email, what i got is that most of them don't have a kit for us, but some kind of universal kit with mods. Those universal kit usually taks about $399 to 599, not cheap~
Even i finally find a kit for our 4th gen bird and camaro by seaching google, that price really shocks me, $1399~
I'd rather spend that money to inprove performance~

Here is the reply i got form EliteMotorRacing:

Thank you for your email. Unfortunately we do not offer an application for your vehicle yet. Our kits are direct bolt on for the application listed. But if you really want a kit for your vehicle and can't find elsewhere, you might want to consider doing some modification to make it fit. We did sell many Universal kits to individuals that really want a kit but can't find one to modify. In fact we did sell many of these kits for the camero and they all fit with some modification. We are not sure what type of modification but they work well for them. But, we recommend you ask a body shop to see if they could do the modication and install it for you. It may work. Well, a door hinge is a hinge and if you really want to install it, it could be done but with some modification. These kits are manufactured in the USA. The manufacturer that makes these kits are ISO approved. Our kits are manufactured with precision and quality first. People that have order these kits have returned to purchase more because of the very good price and quality of the kits (shops only). Our kit is powder coated and bake in oven producing smooth and longer lasting paint finish. Our kits is the same syle as theres but manufacturer better.

We do not list universal kits. If you are interested, please email or call us at 510-717-1818 Mon-Fri from 9-5pm pacific time and someone will assist you.

    Regards,

    So, guys any idea?

Yup vertical doors or lambo doors arent cheap, Ive been searching for a company thats makes them for fbirds, myself. So far the company i know that has a kit for camaros that may work on our birds is Vertical Doors Inc, but its more of a butterfly style, cost too damn much ($2,195), and requires you to modifty your side view mirror ( wtf?!)
LSD Doors has a pretty good kit design but they show no to our beloved fbodies. I hope this wont be a problem when the new camaro comes out

I just found out about this company called WingDoors , from a Dubs mazagine. There universal kits look very promising and they offer true lambo style doors, none of them open at an angle $#!t

But thats a universal kit, and when you put it on and start ripping up your front quarter panel because you didn't shave it it'd get a little messy. It would be quite easy for a bird because they don't have to deal with the extra quarter panel hanging over to the door so I would believe that almost any f-body kit would work. Though I do have faith in universal kits, you better know how to do your own metal work just in case. A friend of mine has a mazda protoge with that door kit and I am impressed as to how well it works. We just have A. heavier doors and B fenders in the way

when they say to modify the mirror, you shouldn't need to. You will need to shave the quarter panel though instead. It's really your choice, but the best kit I have found so far is the vertical doors kit.

i think that your think that it would be easier to get your door open in tight spot your mistaken. because if you look at the camaro with the lambo doors, they still have to swing out alot! my advise if find a different parking stop! alot cheaper hehehe

Re: Is there a Lambo door kit (vertical lift) for our birds?

Yea, I had problems witht he kit, but I'm working it out as we speak. If you wanna get the kit cheaper, pm me. And yes, you DO NOT have to modify the mirrors, but you do have to shave door and quaterpanel. here's a pic of someone who got theirs done before me:

                  http://www.verticaldoors.com/view_vdc.html?Kit=919

unfortunately, I bought the camaro kit. i do believe that they will both work, with less hardships for the bird kit. Still, they are minimal in differences. also, you better know how to trim, etc. otherwise, you'll be paying a lot of money to have it fitted. Again, I can help you get them VERY CHEAP, just send me an e-mail @:

Those are the first pics I've seen of firebirds with vertical doors. I've thought about having that done, but for $2100 seems kinda pricey. Also you would have to do something with your power window wires, power mirror wires, and wires for your speakers in the door. Seems like a lot of work, but it would turn a lot heads everytime you get out of your car.

i can just think of a lot more things to do before spending 2 grand for doors to go up. it would turn heads, but so do rims, paint, motor, sounds... etc.

Who spends MSRP anymore;) BTW, no re-wiring has to be done. Believe me, I took my doors apart myself. The only thing needed is to shave the fender. If you want, you can push the wires further in or relocate them, but it is not necessary
