whats this paint called and around how much $$$ would it cost

heres the car, its the blue one and its linked to my myspace page, its on the right side.....was just wondering wat color it was, like a blue metallic...and around how much for the paint job like that....just a decent one, the one on their looks like it cost a lot and looks pro....want a new color but i dont want the typical red, silver or black so i liked this shade of blue cuz ive never seen a blue fbody like this.... any help would be nice

that color is Medium Blue Metallic, only available in 1999 F-bodies

Yeah, Medium Blue Metallic. Looks similar to Medium Quasar Blue but I think a bit darker.

bears a striking resemblance to electron blue metallic, a later years corvette color. ive shot a bunch of pieces with it simply because i love the color too. shouldnt cost any more than other colors. if you want i can dig up the code, i have a bunch of color books.

yea let me get the code, would be a great help b/c this is the color im gonna go with when i do get it painted...never gotten a car painted b4 so can you give me a price range???? oh and damn you do good work....wish i could be able to do that...let me ask you, does a spray gun make the biggest difference in overall quality, what the proper psi to use and about how much for a good spray gun??? sorry for all the Q's, painting cars has interested me for the longest but have no clue on all these things

Well i paid 1200 for paint and materials, all ppg and that was enough paint to do a color change. It was one gallon of paint and a gallon of clear coat, with primer and materials

I know my color is Monterey Maroon Metallic. I bought a quart of it with clear coat, reducer, flex additive, clear coat hardener...alll for about $250 from a local shop. Paint isn't cheap, haha.

yeah, im usually not one to work on homo parts, but it was a chick that wanted it done, and well i wanted some things done too. plus she has some nice "assets" that helped contribute to the deal...

ill look for the code for ya, just give me a lil while. ive been busy lately. as far as price it really depends on the condition of the car, whether or not you want the jambs done (fenders, hatch, inside the doors, etc) and the condition of the existing paint. generally our shop quotes paint jobs at $3500 to start, sight unseen. it really all depends on the car, how much you want done, and how well you want it done. it varies from shop to shop and generally you get what you pay for.

as far as guns go it all depends on your setup. if you have a small compressor (80 gallon minimum) conventional is the way to go, if you have a large compressor and lines hvlp is the better way. again, its all in how much you spend... you get what you pay for. my gun ran just shy of $270 and it runs at 45psi if you want exact details, but you dont have to spend quite that much to come up with a quality finish. it all depends on your experience, technique, and how much work you want to do after spraying the paint, most of that consisting of wet sanding and buffing. theres far too many variables to list in person, let alone in text and on a forum.

let me see what i can do about digging up that formula for you. ill have it as soon as i find that one book...
